This latest issue of Zambia Global Supply Chain takes a closer look at how public health weaves through every part of the nation’s supply chain. From the movement of essential medicines to workplace safety and the wellbeing of the people who keep industries running, health is revealed not just as a social concern but as a vital link in sustaining productivity and growth. The issue opens with “Safeguarding Zambia’s Health Supply Chain,” an in-depth exploration of how health systems are being strengthened to deliver essential goods efficiently and reliably. It also highlights innovation and excellence through the ZGSC Corporate Vision Award, recognizing organizations that continue to drive positive change in Zambia’s supply chain landscape. The connection between public health, trade, and development is also brought to the forefront — from Zambia’s $45 million maize export deal with Malawi to new initiatives promoting safe, legal, and healthy work environments across industries. In “Health, Safety and the Working Environment,” we are reminded that a safe worker is indeed a productive worker. This edition further examines Zambia’s ongoing commitment to reproductive health through UNFPA’s initiatives, while unpacking the implications of the recent reduction in U.S. health funding and what it means for local programs and adaptation strategies. Finally, with K40 million released to combat Lusaka’s flooding, the issue underscores how infrastructure and public health go hand in hand in building a more resilient and sustainable Zambia.
